Ola Mebude (Registered Midwife)

I was born in Hamburg, Germany, but grew up in Africa. In 1999, I moved to England, where I lived with my family for 15 years. I obtained my Diploma in Nursing from London South Bank University, UK, my BSc in Nursing from Manchester University, UK, and my BSc in Midwifery from the University of Canterbury, Christ Church, UK. I completed my MBA program in June, 2022.

Before moving to Alberta in 2014, I practiced as a Registered Nurse for 10 years, and as a Registered Midwife for 6 years. I worked at Medway Hospital in Kent, England – a busy maternity hospital with over 5000 deliveries a year! My experience at Medway Hospital included working with women in the High-Risk Unit and also attending low-risk women in the Birth Centre.

My personal experience as a mother of three girls, two of whom are twins (now Adults), my professional experience – and my somewhat nomadic life of living in 4 countries spread over 3 continents – have helped me appreciate the beauty of diversity in Canada’s multi-cultural society. I am very passionate about the importance of maintaining the respect and privacy of each of my clients. I take their individual opinions and needs into consideration, and I strive to promote health and independence while providing continuing care in a safe environment. I look forward to the great privilege of working alongside you in achieving your unique birthing experience!

Dancing, swimming, and reading are my favourite hobbies. I also love to spend time with my children shopping and cooking. If you are looking for me outside of work, you will probably find me at church!
